Researcher position available immediately

Applications are invited for enthusiastic and motivated researchers with at least 3 year of experience in data analysis and bioinformatics to join the Millennium Institute for Integrative Biology (iBio).
The successful candidate will join a young research center that aims to understand at the genome level how environmental perturbations control plant and fungal properties as individuals, and also as interacting entities. These studies consider the effect of genetic variability, abiotic perturbations (nitrogen, light, temperature), biological interactions (beneficial or detrimental) and the molecular mechanisms that govern time-dependent genetic programs, such as circadian and developmental processes.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in the following areas:
  • Programing in Perl and/or Python.
  • GNU/Linux OS.
  • Basic management of MySQL databases.
  • Statistical languages (R, matlab…).
  • Experience in analysis of omics data generated by high throughput sequencing, including but not restricted to:
    – Genome assembly and identification of genetic variants
    – Transcriptome assembly and analysis of differential gene expression
    – Identification of target genes of transcription factors and open chromatin sites in the genome
    – Identification of small RNAs and small RNA targets
    – Identification of methylated DNA regions

The candidate is expected to have a medium proficiency in English and be familiar or able to quickly learn different systems biology approaches to model regulatory mechanisms. Possession of a PhD degree will be a plus.
Candidates should submit applications electronically (contact@ibio.cl) including, curriculum vitae and at least 2 reference letters.
Women are encouraged to apply.
